With his industry experience Björn points out: “IamIP’s vision and solution is what most companies are still lacking – efficient communication and workflows between patent departments and R&D departments. With the IamIP platform, companies of all sizes can significantly become more efficient now. That’s why I am happy to join IamIP to speed-up this exciting journey.”
Dimitris adds: “Björn will play a key role in establishing IamIP as the undisputed leader for collaborative patent search and monitoring workflow systems. His addition represents a significant investment in our team and affirms our commitment to employees, customers and investors.”
Björn is well known in the industry and IAM – Intellectual Asset Management – has awarded Björn for four years in a row as one of the leading IP strategists globally within the IAM 300 IP strategists. “Ulmer is especially good at patent strength analyses and highly efficient at assessing entire portfolios. With his background in strategic management consulting, he is very effective at implementing patent strategies that go right to the heart of a corporation’s business.“
Björn was educated as an economist and started his career as a top management consultant at BCG. In 2012 he took on the task of rebuilding and leading the patent department of Deutsche Post DHL Group as its director. He transformed the department from an administrative cost center into a lean and strategy-minded group asset. His key achievements include a newly developed and implemented group-wide IP strategy linked to its business strategy, an optimized cost-efficient portfolio, and the establishment of first out-licensing deals. In 2015 Björn became Managing Director of PatentSight, which he has transformed from a German start-up company to the global market leader for strategic patent analytics. PatentSight was sold in 2018 to LexisNexis IP.
